GLOBAL DIVERSE INITIATIVE
The delegate of Economy, Innovation and Finance, Engracia Hidalgo, and the councilor of the district of Centro, Carlos Segura, along with representatives of the Association Diversa Global present the campaign ‘Pride of Markets’, an initiative supported by the Directorate General of Commerce and Hospitality of the City of Madrid and the markets of Madrid in collaboration with VISA.
The entrances to several municipal markets in the city of Madrid, including Barceló, San Antón, Tirso de Molina, Villaverde Alto and Las Ventas, will be adorned with eye-catching sketches by designer José Perea, depicting a variety of fruits and vegetables.
This initiative aims to highlight the diversity of the products found in the markets, all of which are part of the network of businesses for diversity, as well as the diversity of the people who visit them and the traders themselves.
The markets of Madrid, through this initiative, prouder than ever, encourage all citizens and visitors to join this campaign, supporting and valuing diversity and local commerce. Through ‘Pride of Markets’, a message of inclusion and recognition of the importance of these spaces in the life of the city is promoted.
This campaign is part of the ‘Madrid Orgullo 2023: Show your Pride’ campaign and joins other initiatives aimed at giving visibility to diversity and acceptance promoted by Diversa Global, with the support of the Madrid City Council and VISA, such as the Chueca Passport and the Network of Shops for Diversity, all of which are promoted through the institutional program Everything is in Madrid.
One of the most important activities was the making of a haute couture suit in record time with a print of photographs of the San Antón market itself by the designer José Perea, and the subsequent parade in the market itself.
